How To: ‘Move’ Trees from one Client Site into Another

This article details the process for moving trees from on client site into another within the TreePlotter™ INVENTORY application. The Mass Updater tool can be used to update attributes for large groups of trees to one new value or sets of values. Rather than updating the attribute(s) in each occurrence, the Mass Updater will update all occurrences of the attribute with a single workflow. In this case, the Mass Updater tool can be used to update the Client Site associated with a group of trees to effectively move them from one Client Site to another.

Prerequisites:

Steps:

Advanced Filter

1. Navigate to the TreePlotter Toolbar in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.

2. Click on the ‘Advanced Filter’ icon highlighted in the blue rectangle to open the Advanced Filter.

3. In the Advanced Filter tool, ensure any Filter settings are added to the Trees layer.

4. Use the the prepopulated Data Field list to make selections to filter trees. For example, the User data field can be used to filter Trees added by a particular user.

5. Once the selections have been made, click the ‘Apply’ button in the Advanced Filter tool to instate the changes. The Filters Applied dropdown serves as a quick check to ensure the appropriate filters have been applied.

Note: once a filter has been applied, the ‘Clear All Filters’ button will appear within the Advanced Filter tool which can be used to efficiently remove all applied filters.

Note: if no filter is applied, the update will be applied to ALL of the records for the selected layer.

Note: if the Data Field of interest isn’t in the prepopulated list, use the Add Field dropdown to select Data Fields to add to the list.

Alternative Method: a subset of trees can be selected by using the Map Filter feature. The Tree Map Filter can be used to draw a lasso — any closed shape — around a group of trees which will select those trees and only add those selections to the filter.
