How To: Add a Photo

These are quick instructions on adding a photo to TreePlotter™. We’ll look at how to add them from a computer vs a mobile device.

Prerequisites:

Steps:

From a computer:
  1. Select the tree on the map and click on ‘DETAILS’ on the popup
    • If you are adding a new tree, you will be automatically taken to the Details tab
  2. Locate the ‘Photos’ field
  3. Click on ‘Choose Files’ button against the Photos field
  1. It will allow you to browse to the photo on your computer, select the one(s) you want, usually to a maximum of 5
    • To select multiple photos, use the ctrl key and select each one, or hold down the shift key and select a group of the photos
    From a mobile device:
    1. Select the tree on the map and click on ‘DETAILS’ on the popup
    2. Locate the ‘Photos’ field
    3. Click on ‘Choose Files’ button against the Photos field
    4. You will have several options, depending on your browser and whether your phone is Apple or an Android
      • Photo Library – you can select an existing photo
      • Take Photo – you can take a photo directly within TreePlotter and it will upload it to the asset
        • This option is currently only for Apple users
        • Google made a change to not allow websites to access photos and we are unable to circumvent this. You have to take the photo first and then upload it
      • Choose Files – you can select an existing photo from the Files folder on your phone
      • Google Drive – you can select an existing photo from Google Drive

    Known Limitations:

    • There is a limit to the number of photos you can have per record, usually 5
    • The supported file types are .JPG, .PNG, & .GIF
    • If you try and add a photo and it disappears, please check the file type. If it’s not a supported file type then please convert them to a jpg and upload them again
    • When taking a photo directly from a mobile device, it doesn’t save it to the camera roll and uploads it straight into TreePlotter
      • We did this deliberately, so you weren’t didn’t run out of space on your device after taking hundreds of photos and unable to take more photos until you’d freed the space!
      • You can download the photos later, if you so wish.
