FAQ – Is GPS on a mobile device used to map features?

The recommended method for mapping features in TreePlotter™ INVENTORY does not use the GPS of your mobile device. Locations are placed (drawn) directly onto the map; they are as accurate as the underlying streets or imagery base map. Not using location services means that INVENTORY won’t drain your battery either! Adding a point to the map auto-populates an x/y coordinate to each tree based on the imagery, not the location of your device (map based). If you prefer to use your mobile device’s GPS to map features, a new function has been added to INVENTORY that allows you to do so.
